Also, the taste-strip project that Dad is mentoring & funding was in the DP today... if you made it to Rosh Hashanah last semester, those were the samples he handed out!

Why do cereal and milk never run out at the same time?

Today, I injected a chunky purple sea urchin with KCl (which my TA kept calling "calcium chloride"- it's potassium chloride. obv.) and forced it to eject its eggs so we could fertilize them and watch them divide. SO COOL. When you look at a slide that is absolutely writhing with millions of sperm under the microscope, and realize that only 1 of them is going to provide genetic material to the next generation, it gives you a good appreciation for the probability that you were born, and your own idiosyncratic genetic history.

So, today I created life! Tiny, tiny, urchin-y life.
And then we tossed the slides out.
